A nice 3-1 day yesterday that was looking like a sweep until Vandy just completely melted down in the 2nd half against Tennessee. Nothing to complain about though as I’ll take 3-1 with a smile every time. Hopefully can keep it going tonight, here’s what I’ve got….

Georgia Tech (-1): Notre Dame was able to pull off a road win over the weekend against Cuse without Colson and Farrell. Asking them to make it two in a row however I think is going to be too much. Yes the Irish won on Saturday but without Colson and Farrell the offense was a mess. They managed just 0.93 PPP and for most of the game the offense looked lost. Brey is as good as it gets with X’s and O’s but there’s only so much you can do when you take away his two best players. In this case not just his two best players but the co-leaders of his team. Colson and Farrell are both seniors and are the heartbeat of this squad. I can’t over emphasize how important those two are, just about everything they run goes through one or the other. Guys like Gibbs, Pflueger, Geben are nice players but they are role players. Guys who do their best work when others (Colson and Farrell) are doing the heavy lifting. This game will likely be played at a snails pace with possessions in the low 60’s. Now Georgia Tech is nothing special and realistically they’ll finish around the bottom of the ACC standings this year. That said they are still an ACC team and right now with the exception of Pitt no ACC teams are bad. Winning on the road in the ACC is no easy task and to do it in back to back games without your two best players I think is next to impossible. The weakness for this Jackets team is on the offensive end, but they did get a nice boost 7 games ago with the return of Okogie. In those 7 games Okogie is averaging 20 points per game and shooting it at 43% from 3 point land. He’s taken an offense that was pretty shaky and at least turned them respectable. Ultimately I just don’t think Notre Dame will get enough from their role players to pull this one off. Tech wins by 5-7 or so.

Just this one for today. Not crazy about what’s out there and don’t need to force.
