NFL Futures January 6th

Took a few futures on the Steelers last month to win the AFC and Super Bowl, now I’m going to dig in there on the NFC side of things. Will have my weekend plays up later today. Here we go…

Seahawks to win NFC (+535) & Seahawks to win SB (+1310): I think the NFC is wide open this year as I’m just not terribly impressed with either of the bye teams. The Cowboys had a great regular season but do I think they can do it with a Rookie QB? No. The Falcons have a great offense and probably the league MVP in Matt Ryan, but do I think they can do it with that defense? No. I’ll hitch my ride to the Seahawks as I don’t see any glaring weaknesses with them. They still have a top 5 defense, their offense is ranked #12 in the league, and they have a QB who has been there and done it before. I’ll admit the running game hasn’t been good and if there a concern that would certainly be it. Rawls and Collins look to be sharing the duties now and hopefully they can get Prosise back into the mix down the road. As far as their path goes I think they get through Detroit and then I really like their chances against Atlanta and their 28th ranked defense against the pass. That’s a game where Wilson should be able to make plenty of plays down the field to Baldwin and Graham, picking on a shaky Falcons secondary. Moving on from there they’d be either at Dallas or home for Green Bay or the Giants. If at home they’ll be favored and even at Dallas I don’t think they’d be bigger than a 3 or 3.5 point dog, which would certainly provide some hedge options. The Atlanta game is what will make or break these futures. If they beat the Falcons then we’re in very nice shape. Obviously I think they’ll do just that.
